Chaired by the council president and set up in partnership with civil society, an advisory body called the Equity, Equal Opportunity and Gender Approach Committee operates alongside the municipal council. It is one of the mechanisms for implementing the gender approach and strengthening democratic participation by building ties between the municipality and civil society.
Its role is in particular to examine matters relating to the principles of equality, equal opportunity and the gender approach, in application of Article 19 of the Constitution, which enshrines the principle of equality.
